Syrah became widespread in Greek vineyards in a relatively short time, making high-quality wines. Undoubtedly, this is no coincidence, for many producers consider Syrah a variety that thrives in the warm Greek climate.
The Greek Syrah wine approaches very much the Syrah style of the New World, exhibiting high alcohol content, prolonged extraction, dense structure, powerful tannins, medium acidity and mellow aromas of black fruits, violet and spices. It qualifies for ageing. It frequently pairs with other international and local varieties in blends of northern Greece and with Kotsifali in Crete, for it enhances and highlights (often more so than Cabernet Sauvignon) the quality of the local varieties, thus producing more interesting results.
Grenache (Garnacha) – a wine of expressive character, bursting with red fruit aromas of raspberry and strawberry, with a subtle hint of white pepper. Soft and generous on the palate, with elevated alcohol and delicate spice, it captivates from the first sip.
As it ages, Grenache develops depth and complexity, revealing notes of leather and gentle smokiness, making it perfect for cellaring. Often blended with Syrah, Carignan, or Tempranillo, it gains structure and richness, creating wines of elegance, vibrancy, and character.
